Description

This is the prime course for all recreational boaters, whether power, sail, kayak or canoe.

It contains detailed boating know-how: characteristics of boat hulls, handling of boats under power or sail, anchors and anchoring, chart understanding, navigation.

It covers the legal aspects of water users: licensing, registration, mandatory equipment, collision regulations and Canadian aids to navigation.

It provides safety information: skipper's responsibility before setting out and when under way, weather, preparing to launch, optional equipment.

Cost

$185.00. This includes student notes, homework folder, one Training chart, Chart No. 1, Collision regulations, Government Publications, CPS course plotter and, for the successful candidate, one year membership in Manitoulin Power and Sail Squadron and a graduation banquet.

Availability

This 12- to 14-week course will start on September 14, 2004 in Kagawong and/or Little Current depending on the enrolment.
